Study Description and Objectives

Primary Objective: To conduct a panel discussion among obstetrician-gynecologists who are current users of the da Vinci® Surgical System, to understand the use of this system to perform hysterectomies and to confirm the ranked surgeon drivers for adaptation of this technology.  Secondary objectives of this study were to:

§    Understand the current use of the da Vinci Surgical System in gynecologic surgeries overall, and for hysterectomies, in particular

§    Identify patient and physician drivers for utilization

o        Who is involved in the decision-making process and what factors are considered?

§    Assess the risks and benefits of using the da Vinci Surgical System to perform hysterectomies

§    Examine the clinical data behind the use of the da Vinci Surgical System for hysterectomies

§    Investigate treatment alternatives including abdominal, vaginal, and non-robotic-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomies

§    Discuss barriers and facilitators to surgical treatment with the da Vinci Surgical System

§    Review cost and reimbursement for surgery with the da Vinci Surgical System

§    Explore trends in use of the da Vinci Surgical System for hysterectomies in the past year and in the next 1, 3, and 5 years
