Deliverable: Summary and Tabular Results of Quantitative Data
Objectives: To understand current practices and trends regarding the use of erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESA) for chemotherapy-induced anemia (CIA) patients and future projected use of ESAs based on new Medicare policy. Additionally:
§ Anticipate the impact of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) ESA coverage policy on practice patterns
§ Examine current ESA treatment methods in response to varying Hb levels and patient types
§ Determine the impact reimbursement has on ESA usage
§ Explore oncologists’ opinions on the scrutiny surrounding the use of ESAs
§ Validate prevalence of CIA by cancer type
§ Distinguish the pros and cons of using transfusion as a treatment for CIA
§ Identify drivers of brand preference and dosing patterns

§ Board-certified in specialty
§ 2 to 30 years of experience post-residency
§ Minimum of 75% professional time spent in clinical practice
§ Work in a practice that manages at least 250 cancer patients in a typical month
§ Manage chemotherapy patients of which at least 25% met the clinical criteria for CIA
